3. Check the Title Tag and Meta Description for Meaning, Not a Score
Once crawl and canonical signals look intentional, review the title tag and meta description. The title should make the page’s primary topic clear and should align with the main visible heading without needing to copy it word for word. A mismatch is worth investigating when the title promises one subject and the page leads with another.
For meta descriptions, avoid treating 150 or 160 characters as a rule. Google’s current documentation says there is no fixed limit on meta description length and that snippets are truncated as needed for the device.
